Barton’s Director of Instrumental Activities Jamie Minneman participated in a once-in-a-lifetime experience last week by marching with the Saluting America's Band Directors (SABD) in the 97th Annual Macy’s Parade in New York City.

The Barton Community College Library will team up with the English department and Barton’s literary annual “Prairie Ink” staff to host a writing workshop from 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Cavanaugh Room in the Barton Library.

We all know maps change.  Political boundaries for cities and even countries are a good example.  The map discussed today is different.  A map many not even be aware of unless you are a gardener, horticulturalist, or crop producer.

Barton Theatre’s Barton Bards troupe, in conjunction with the Great Bend Community Theatre will present a live, “old-fashioned” radio show presentation of “A Christmas Story,” by Jean Shepard at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Crest Theater, 1905 Lakin Ave., in Great Bend. Admission is free as a gift to the community.

Last week’s column discussed the high nitrate concentration found in private wells in our area.  High nitrate concentrations are a very real health concern for everybody by especially for young children and people with certain health conditions.
